GUWAHATI, July 18: The SPOs who huddled together at Dighalipukhuripar in the city on Monday are still in their demonstration on Tuesday in support of their demand for appointment in the proposed Assam Industrial Security Force (AISF).

The police administration let them know on Tuesday that the Chief Minister is in New Delhi, and as such their stand that they will not hand over their memorandum to none other than the Chief Minister is an impossible proposition.

Special Police Officers’ Welfare Society (SPOWS) secretary Mrityunjay Bora said: “We’re not going to hand over our memorandum to any of the bureaucrats. We’re ready to hand it over if the Chief Minister himself comes. We did meet the Chief Minister six times by now. If the police impede us in our move, we’re ready to march by bicycles to Delhi seeking intervention of the Prime Minister into our cause.”
