State Cabinet expansion not before Magh Bihu

GUWAHATI, Dec 19: Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and party’s tiol president Amit Shah will induct new ministers in the Cabinet of Sonowal, but not before the Magh Bihu.  

A meeting, which was held after the core committee of the meeting in the city today, entrusted Sonowal and Shah to shuffle the State Cabinet.

Earlier in the day, the party had its core committee meeting in the presence of tiol organizing general secretary Ramlal. The meeting made it clear that Assam Assembly Speaker Ranjit Kumar Dass would take charge as the State party president on December 26 when he would preside over the first organizatiol meeting of the party in the presence of Ramlal. Block presidents, district presidents and office-bearers of the party are supposed to attend the meeting. The meeting, besides organizatiol matters, will have a detailed discussion on holding the panchayat poll in the State.

The core committee meeting took a decision to put an end to the post-demonetization problems, especially in tea estate areas, through the government. The meeting also had a detailed discussion on health insurance cover to tea estate workers.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Ajay Jamwal, Rajen Gohain, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Parimal Shuklabaidya, Bijoya Chakraborty, Kamakhya Tasha, Phanindra th Sarma, Bijay Gupta, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Rajdwip Ray and Gopal Krish.
