State credit semir held

GUWAHATI, February 5: Jitesh Khosla, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, released the ‘State Focus Paper’ for 2015–16 in the State Credit Semir conducted by BARD, Assam Regiol Office, Guwahati today.

The semir highlighted the containing credit potential for Priority Sector Credit flow in the State of Assam for the ensuing fincial year 2015–16.

AP Sandilya, CGM, BARD, Assam RO, in his iugural address, highlighted the objective and theme of the semir – “Accelerating the pace of capital formation in agriculture and allied sector”.

He highlighted various initiatives and interventions such as area development scheme, producers’ organization, etc for investment in agriculture.  He emphasized on development of rural infrastructure under RIDF & Warehousing infrastructure schemes of BARD.

During the semir, presentations were made on area based schemes on Dairy and Fisheries, BARD’s interventions in Farm sector, Warehousing Infrastructure Fund, and Food Processing Fund besides role of BARD in NER and Assam in particular followed by interaction with State Government and Bankers.  Of the total estimated projection of credit estimates for 2015–16 under various sectors, the agricultural credit was estimated at Rs 6424 crore of which crop loan was  estimated at Rs 4205 crore and agricultural term loan at Rs 2219 crore. This was stated in a press release.
