State duo on way to Italy with film on sustaibility

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Nov 26:  Assamese documentary filmmaker duo – Asutosh Kashyap and Partha Hazarika – takes the issue of sustaible development of the country all the way to Italy through the ‘In the Search of Independence’ which is going to be screened amongst the best 1,800 films on sustaibility issues from all over the world in the Sandalia Sustaibility Film Festival in Italy.

The screening of films and the award ceremony will be held on December 2 and 3, 2017 in Abbasanta in Italy.

Speaking to this reporter, Asutosh Kashyap said, “Young minds are like new minds. They’re enthusiastic and very creative. However, it has often been seen that parents try to mould their children as they want. Our documentary film focuses on the independence of young minds in today’s context.  Another question that our film is trying to raise to the world audience is – are we really independent? When there is so much of hunger, where people sleep in Railway stations and eat garbage, are we really independent? This is a big question worth taking into consideration.”

“Our film focuses on how we can bring sustaible development of the country by uplifting its ignorant and poverty-stricken people. For sustaible development of our country it is important to allow children to choose what they want to become, as they are the future of the country. If their way to contribute to the sustaible development of the country is entirely their choice, only then we can expect for sustaible development of the country.”

Kashyap said the documentary film is based on a real life story of a lady – Chayanika Bharadwaj – and it is a self-produced film shot in the slums of Guwahati.
