State Haji dies in Mecca, laid to rest

GUWAHATI, Aug 25: An Assamese Haji hailing from Dhubri, Mame Begum, passed away on Thursday in a hospital in Mecca.  State Haj Committee chairman Nekibur Zaman said: “The woman was a cancer patient. Her husband, Giasuddin Sheikh, has also been suffering from Asthma in Mecca. He’s under treatment there. With consent from her family members, the body of the woman was laid to rest there on Friday. We’ve asked our representatives accompanying the pilgrims to care of ailing Sheikh. Two other pilgrims sustained injuries in car accidents. They’re out of danger. The process for insurance claim is underway.”
