State PSUs sense closure threat!

Notification a shocker!

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 2: As all hell breaks loose, the employees of 40 public sector undertakings (PSUs) of 19 departments have been scary. They are not sure if they will get their salaries, or if the PSUs they have been working in will at all survive.

This wave of fear has been doing rounds in the length and breadth of the State since September 18 this year.

The fear psychosis has got its origin from a notification issued by the State Fince Department asking the State PSUs to generate their own resources for meeting the salaries of their employees.

Through the notification issued on September 18 this year,  the department has also asked the PSUs, especially those which have outstanding loans, to ensure the submission of up-to-date annual accounts and to hold the board meetings regularly. The notification has also said that in the event of default of loans by the borrowing PSUs, the State Government has to pay the debt, as the guarantee becomes a liability of the state since it is a contingent liability.
