GUWAHATI, Dec 9: Assam is set to sing – Swahid pramo tumak…, Luitor parore tumi deka Lora – set to music and sung by Bhupen Hazarika on Sunday when the State is going to recall 855 youths who laid their lives during the Assam Agitation.
While the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has its own ways of remembering the martyrs throughout the State, the AGP and the BJP are also going to observe the day through various programmes on December 10 when first martyr of Assam Agitation Khargeswar Talukdar was killed.
The AGP is going to observe the day centrally at Swahid Sowaroni Mahavidyalaya Playground at Rampur-Bamunbari in lbari district. Party president and minister Atul Bora, former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, working president and minister Keshab Mahanta, former party president Brindabon Goswami will remain present at the function to be organized by lbari district committee, in association with Borkhetri LAC committee of the party. The party is also going to observe the day in every district and LAC in the State.
The BJP’s main programme will be organized by the BJYM at Uzan Barbaree at Bhabanipur in Barpeta district. Besides Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, party president Ranjit Kumar Dass is also going to attend the function.
