Stir called off

GUWAHATI, Sept 1: All stakeholders of engineering colleges in the State, including teachers and students, have pledged not to allow the State Government’s move to make the government engineering colleges of the State affiliated under ASTU. A general meeting to this effect was attended by all stakeholders from AEC, JEC, BBEC and BVEC on Friday in Assam Engineering College, Guwahati auditorium. The meeting resolved that under no circumstances or conditions would the government engineering colleges be affiliated under ASTU. The meeting also sought intervention from the Education Minister into the matter. Following an assurance from the Director of Technical education that the issue would be taken to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister for an immediate solution, the students decided to cancel their class boycott for three days – September 4, 5 and 6, 2017.
