GUWAHATI, Dec 28: The All Guwahati Students’ Union (AGSU) has demanded of Kamrup(M) DC M Angamuthu and Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren th not to allow any nudity or semi-nudity in the me of ‘ring out the old and ring in the new’ cultural programmes at mid-night on December 31. They have also warned the organizations that have been holding such cultural programmes to desist from such practices.
In a statement issued to the press today, AGSU president Rajmil Ali said: “In the me of welcoming the English New Year a section of people and organizations are out to hold cultural programmes that are nothing but cultural onslaught for us in true sense of the term. Such nude or semi-nude cultural programmes are aimed at pushing us towards the so-called global culture only to distort our own culture. We raise this demand in the interest a secured future of the generation next of the State. A culture mirrors a tion. A nude culture is nothing but a cry for a tion.”
The students’ body also raised the demand for police patrolling in picnic spots in the State.
