Stress on scientific homestead gardening

 GUWAHATI, March 24: A one-day tiol semir on ‘Homestead Magement to Ensure Employment and Secure Nutrition for Family Members’ held in the city in commemoration of the anniversary of Krishak Bandhu e-Megazine recently decided to encourage sustaible homestead gardening in a scientific way by all stakeholders and to develop an ideal homestead for rural tourism sector in the State, a press release said. The semir, according to the release, also felt that the government should support for capacity building to enhance productivity in homesteads and scale-up home gardening activities for a self-sufficient home economy, ensuring optimum employment of family members, replenishment of nutritiol nourishment and maintaining an eco-aesthetic environment for family wellness. It suggests that a well-designed course on homestead magement may be initiated in Assam Agricultural University (AAU) as well as the Central Agricultural University.
