Subhadra Chowdhury: A Tribute

My Khurideo Subhadra Chowdhury, a scion of the illustrious Upen Lekharu family of North Guwahati, passed away peacefully at her younger son’s residence at Ambari, Guwahati. She was born in 1928. She had her loving family beside her while breathing her last.

Khurideo was a dignified and elegant person, endowed with an indomitable spirit. She encouraged her family and near and dear ones to persist. In the face of many strife and struggles hers was a life fully dedicated to service to the mankind, and she was looked upon at Silshaku, North Guwahati as an icon for solace to anyone suffering or in distress.

Khurideo, who was married into Late Jibonram Deka family, was a lifelong companion and inspirer to her husband, Late Jiten Chowdhury (Putu Khuradeo), a famous footballer of yesteryears. An adorable mother, grandmother and great grandmother, all were looking up to her for her enduring love and guidance. They were the pride and joy of her life. A legacy of a kind spirit and zest for life will live on through them!

Today on her Adyashraddha we pray to the Almighty that she may find comfort and solace in His Hands.
