‘Swachch Sarvekshan’ in full gear

GUWAHATI, Dec 27: ‘Swachch Sarvekshan’ is in full gear in Guwahati, which is one among the 500 cities of the country competing for the glory. All authorities of various departments took a pledge yet again to keep Guwahati clean. Today also, the Kamrup(M) district development committee held a meeting of ‘Swachch Sarvekshan’ at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu. Such a meeting was held yesterday also.

Speaking at the meeting, GMC Commissioner Sanjib Gohain Baruah spelt out the objectives of the meeting. He said that Union Urban Development Ministry has included Guwahati among 500 cities of the country in the competition of ‘Swachch Sarvekshan’. He appealed to all the departments in the State to keep their offices, sanitary disposals and campus clean.  In his speech, Angamuthu requested all employees of the State to download Swachch APP. He also requested them to upload garbage or filth like carcasses of animal lying on roads or other public places if they find any in their respective areas or places of work. He said that he would hold such a meeting on January 2 next to take stock of how many employees of each department downloaded Swachch APP.  Kamrup(M) Development Commissioner Barli Sarma took stock of implementation of ‘Swachch Sarvekshan’ in PWD, PHE, Sericulture, Veteriry and Animal Husbandry, Education, Health and Agriculture departments. She also took stock of the implementation of the Atal-Amrit Scheme being implemented by the Health and Family Welfare Department in the State.
