Symbiotic approach a must for knowledge-based society: CM

GUWAHATI, Nov 10:  Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal advocated for a symbiotic approach between teachers, parents and students for creating a knowledge-society in the State.

Terming knowledge as power and without knowledge a society cannot progress, Sonowal urged  parents and teachers to create a knowledge-imbued society and asked students to live their life in the pursuit of knowledge.

Speaking at the valedictory function of Gyanjyoti Scheme at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in the city this evening, Sonowal said, “The present State Government is working resolutely to create an ambience of quality education and enhance infrastructure creation for imparting quality school education in all parts of the state”. He also said that State Government’s decision of introducing Gunotsav has been aimed at spearheading a paradigm of quality education.

Sonowal also appealed to the students to work hard and get success in life as there is no short cut to success. He also asked them to adopt a harmonious style of living and work harmoniously to create a co-existent society.

Responding to the queries of the students, Sonowal said that the present State Government has accorded top priority for the preservation of biodiversity of the State and the government is also acting to protect the Ramsar site due to its rich wetland biodiversity.

Sonowal also said, “Sports leads to good health and if a student can possess good health he can undertake hard works and reach zenith of success” He also advised the students to concentrate on achieving good health and keep working to bring laurels to the state as well as tion. He also said that his government is also working to create sports infrastructure and give importance to sporting activities in the state. He said that the government is making 500 ideal playgrounds in all the districts for the promotion of rural sports. On the occasion Sonowal handed over trophies to the winners of different competitions organised during Gyanjyoti 2017.

On being asked about women education, Sonowal said that for the promotion of women education which can lead to their empowerment the State Government is  implementing a scheme christened Beti Bachao, Beti Padao along with introducing other incentives for the promotion of women education in the State. 

Gyanjyoti 2017 was organized to provide a unique opportunity for young students of the state to undertake educatiol tours to historical places, educatiol institutions and centres of excellence. Altogether 400 students from 14 districts took part in Gyanjyoti 2017 which started on November 7 and ended on Saturday. Sonowal also took part in a sigture campaign launched on the occasion for Swachh Bharat Campaign and released a souvenir.
