Tai Ahoms warn parties

GUWAHATI, March 11: The Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad (TAYP) has demanded of the Centre to accord ST status to the Tais without further delay. In a statement issued to the press today, Parishad president Pankaj Borgohain said: “The Tai Ahom community is backward on all fronts – politically, socially and economically despite it has a rich culture. Both the Congress and the BJP governments have been deceiving the people of the community on the issue of ST status. Now the AGP has also tied up with the BJP. We caution the political parties not to do politics on the issues that are vital for people.”
