GUWAHATI, Dec 10: Investigators revealed that sale tax inspector Niru Das Medhi, an accused in BG Bonded Warehouse scam currently in jail, resorted to willful dereliction of duty against the warehouse. She had been in charge of D unit in Number 8 taxation department circle from September 2012 to October 2015. Surprisingly, there had been no inspection in BG Bonded Warehouse from February 3, 2012 to July 14, 2015. According to sources, the lack of inspection during the aforesaid period ebled BG Bonded Warehouse to dodge the State exchequer of excise duty amounting to Rs 19 crore and VAT amounting to Rs 21 crore.
