GUWAHATI, March 8: The Assam Pradesh Trimool Congress (TC) Committee (APTCC) will field candidates in 20-25 Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) in the coming Assembly elections in the State.
Talking to the press in Guwahati Press Club today, APTCC general secretary Kailash Sarma said: “We’re going to field candidates in around 25 seats in this Assembly election. While the BJP, Congress, AIUDF and other parties have their eyes set on capitalists, we want to side with the poor. The BJP Government at the Centre shows that it will work only for the capitalists. The Congress Government in the State has also not shown any interest to solve the problems afflicting the state. The concept of ‘intolerance’ emerged from a section of aggressive commul groups to create more problems among the people. We, therefore, request the people of the state to cast their vote only to eligible candidates not depending upon any political party. We want a secular society where all people will be equal in every term and for that, we are going to fight against the commul groups in the state.”
“The list of the candidates has not been filized as yet. We are planning to field candidates in Hajo, Lakhimpur, Dispur, Guwahati West, Kamalpur etc., constituencies. The members of the central committee of the party like MP Mithun Chakraborty, actor Tapash Paul, Satabdi Rai, Nurul Islam, Saumendu Adhikary, Sultan Ahmed will come here to campaign for party candidates,” Sarma said.
