Teachers' body hits out Education Minister

From our Correspondent

AZARA, Oct 19:  The Asom Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) has expressed shock at, what it says, the State Education Minister not taking action against corrupt employees.

In a statement issued to the press today, the Sanmilani said: “The department is ready to ascertain teachers’ attendance through the GPS system, but unfortutely it is not ready to act against corrupt officials in the department against whom complaints have been lodged. We did apprise the Education Minister of corrupt practices by an official but no action has been initiated against him as yet. This is despite the announcement by the government that anybody giving clues to corruption will be rewarded with cash. Now the department is hushing up corruption when they are brought to light.”

Samnilani president Jibon Chandra Bora and secretary general Ratul Chandra Goswami opposed the move on the part of the department to unite a number of institutions on the pretext of Shikskha Kshetra Asoni. On November 12, the Sanmilani is going to hold a convention in Guwahati in this connection. If need be, they may resort to agitation.
