Teachers stage protest, demand amendment to Act

GUWAHATI, March 12: The Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha (ASKAM) staged a dhar at Dispur Last Gate on Monday in support of their various demands, including amendment to the Assam Educatiol (Provincialization of Services of Teachers and Reorganization of Educatiol Institutions) Act, 2017, and provincialization of posts of all teachers working in venture schools in the State. 
In a statement issued to the press on Monday, ASKAM president Kushal Kumar Haloi and general secretary Bhubaneswar Lahkar said that the Assam Educatiol (Provincialization of Services of Teachers and Reorganization of Educatiol Institutions) Bill, 2017 had been passed on the last day of the session in 2017-18 without giving any chance for debate. The House passed the Bill after the Opposition members had staged a walkout, they said. In the same manner, in this Budget also, all issues on education have been pushed towards the end of the session, they said.
