Ten black spots on GS Road!

GUWAHATI, Dec 4: Black spots on GS Road in Guwahati have been a cause of concern for traffic magers. Kamrup (M) District Regiol Transport Authority (RTA) chairman M Angamuthu has ordered the preparation of a report on accident-prone areas in the city and find out remedial measures.
The RTA chairman held an important meeting on road safety at his chamber on Monday. The report, to be prepared by ADC PP Bora, is to be submitted within seven days. According to PWD (Roads), there are as many as ten black spots on GS Road in the city. Angamuthu asked the GMC and traffic police to regulate city bus stops in the city. GMDA will find out locations of bus stops outside the GMC area. A resolution was taken at the meeting entrusting RTA to fix bus routes. 
The meeting discussed issues like riding two wheelers without helmets and reckless driving. Transport officials and traffic police personnel are going to carry out a joint operation. The matter of drunken driving was also taken up seriously at the meeting. The DC ordered cancellation of the licenses of wrongdoers. A resolution was taken to protect roadsides and to erect fencing at accident-prone areas, to put reflectors on medians, to illumite the road from Jalukbari to Sopur and to smoothen main roads. The DC also ordered transport officials to ply e-rikshaws on the outskirts of the city and to organize semirs on road safety at schools and colleges.
