GUWAHATI, Nov 24: The Sadou Asom TET Uttirno Prathomik Sikshak Mancha (SATUPSM) has been on an agitation mode yet again with Dispur filing to fulfill their demand for regularization of jobs.

The Mancha has been agitating for the cause of TET-qualified teachers, both contractual and regular, but Dispur is yet to fulfill their demands, and this has led the Mancha to be on an agitation mode again.

On November 26, the Mancha is going to stage a sit-in dhar in front of all block education offices all over the State from 12 noon to 2 pm.

The demands of the mancha include regularization of the jobs of all TET-qualified contractual teachers and payment of their arrears at the scales revised in 2010.

According to the decisions taken at the Project Approval Board (APB) meeting, as many as 23,397 vacant posts of teachers – 13,100 of lower primary and 10,297 of upper primary – should be filled. The board meeting also decided that till the regularization of jobs of the contractual teachers, their contract should be made to exist till they attain 60 years of age, and till that time no permanent post of teachers should be filled with fresh candidates. The board has further said  that since the contractual teachers have to work away from their home districts, their salaries should be paid on time.
