th appeals to citizens to help in checking crimes

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, April 18: Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren Chandra th today appealed to the people of the city to be aware of the spurt in activities by miscreants and thieves. On the latest spurt in cases of thefts and lootings, th said that miscreants were taking the advantage of the police force shifting their attention to Bihutolis and Bihu functions. “Security is related not only to the police as it has many things linked. We can’t deploy police in big apartments which should have CCTVs installed in them so as to let the police get clues to catch miscreants. The security bandobast of an apartment is not of the police. However, if any crime takes place in an apartment, the police have to come to the scene, and the onus of investigation lies with the police. Crimes in the city can be checked if all house owners provide photographs and whereabouts of their tents and servants to the police, and inform them also of the handing over their documents to the police.”
