GUWAHATI, Dec 31: Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren th has greeted the people of the city on the eve of the New Year today. "Let peace prevail in the city, let everybody abide by laws and let awareness get a boost. This is what we pay for," th said in his New Year message. th said, if not more, crimes have come down in the city at least to certain extent. "If we're to make the city totally free from crimes, full cooperation from the city denizens is a must," he said, and added: "Emphasis will be laid on making the citizens' committees set up under various police stations in the city more active. We need to go for increased patrolling in the interior areas in the city, besides making the police stations more sensitive." On New Year celebrations, th said: "Pomp and gaiety mark every New Year celebration. However, that revelry shouldn't cross the limit."
