Three-day I-Day celebrations

GUWAHATI, August 7: In what can be called as a discerning way of celebrating the Independence Day from celebrations of the Day in the past, State Cabinet decided to celebrate this year’s I-day with a three-day-long function. On July 28, 2017, the State Cabinet took such a decision and issued a directive to the GAD, Elementary Education, Secondary Education and Higher Education to act accordingly. The three-day programme has dance, music, sports, drawing, art, extempore speech competitions from August 13. On August 13, there will be debate, extempore speech, drawing etc., competitions among school children. The winners will get prizes in the main functions on August 15. On August 14 there will sports competitions among students and youth, run for tiol integrity in all blocks, subdivisions and districts. The Directorate of Higher Education also asked the provincialized and aided colleges to cooperate with their local administrations to celebrate the I-Day in a befitting manner.
