Three organizations floated

GUWAHATI, Feb 22: Assam officer posted to Assam House in Mumbai Debashis Sarma was today felicitated by the Senior Citizen’s Forum, Guwahati, Jourlists’ Association of Assam and Patriotic People’s Front of Assam for his assistance to cancer patients from the Northeast at the commercial capital of the country.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, veteran jourlist DN Chakravarty announced the formation of three organizations – State Society for Protection of Rights and Honour of Women (SSPRHW), State Council for tiol and Intertiol Affairs (SCNIA) and the Assam State Council for Generating tiol Consensus about Infiltration of Foreigners in Assam. He said that these three organizations would hold discussion on their respective issues so as to bring about awareness among the people. Debashish Sharma, who is one of the founders of Dipsikha, an NGO, said: “Of late the number of cancer patients going to Mumbai for treatment has gone up, and the number of women patients is even more.” Research scholar Banikanta Sarma, Rupam Baruah, Khanin Das and ba Thakuria were present at today’s programme.
