tiol award winning Kothanodi set to hit screens

GUWAHATI, Aug 18: tiol Award winning Assamese film Kothanodi, directed by Bhaskar Hazarika will be released on 16th September in cinema halls across Assam. The trailer of the film was released today at a press conference by the director in the presence of actors Adil Hussain and Kopil Bora. This is one of the latest Assamese films to be partly finced by crowd funding.

Hazarika spoke at length about his experiences and challenges while working on the film. “Film is based on events and characters described in Burhi Air Xadhu by Lakshmith Bezbaroa,” he said.

Actor Kopil Bora said that Kothanodi was one of the most fulfilling projects in his career. He also spoke about how the film has elements of Assam’s culture and heritage; and also encompasses a form of storytelling like no other.

“Adil (Hussain) Da and Seema (Biswas) Baideu were our acting gurus and taught us a lot in the workshops that were conducted before shooting,” he said.

Adil Hussain also had a lot of good things to say about the film. He appealed to all the movie enthusiasts across Assam to embrace Kothanodi with open hearts and watch the movie in theatres to experience a new form of storytelling.

Debutants Manisha Bhuyan and Kasvi Sharma also expressed their happiness in working with stalwarts like Seema Biswas and Adil Hussain in their very first movie.

The film has already been screened at various film festivals around the world including 20th Busan Intertiol Film Festival 2015, BFI London Film Festival 2015, 17th Jio Mambi Mumbai Film Festival, Dharamshala Intertiol Film Festival 2015, Goteborg Intertiol Film Festival, and Indie Meme Film Festival Austin among others.
