Traders at Jorabat asked not to block drains

From our Correspondent

DIMORIA, Jan 5: They say an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. The administration and the affected people in Assam are seen to talk more on water-logging when the problem afflicts them badly. They, however, forget to play their respective roles when there is no water-logging, i.e. in the dry season. Unlike this trend, Sopur revenue circle officer Munindra th Gtey today paid a visit to the Jorabat area, infamous for water-logging when there is monsoons. Gtey inspected the drains in the area and asked the traders doing business there not to block the drains or else legal action would be taken against them. Blockage of waters by the drains in the Jorabat area leads to water-logging that paralyses vehicular traffic on NH-37. The spillover water from Jorabat also causes water-logging in Guwahati.
