Training of GRP men begins

GUWAHATI, Dec 10: The tiol Law University (NLU) has organized a two day capacity building training programme of 30 Government Railway Police (GRP) officers on child related laws, which was started today at the NLU conference hall in the city.

Iugurating the training programme, Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Sahay said: “As the transport system has been developed in the state and people have benefitted, the same became easier for the crimils also, especially child traffickers, to carry the children from one place to another and railway stations are the main points of this system. Therefore, it is very important to know the child related laws and proper procedure to tackle the child related cases for the GRP officers.”

He further added, “Railway stations are the homes for the homeless and therefore, we have to scrutinize each and every person coming to the railway stations and find the people, who need our help. Especially, the children need more help in this regard and we have to know how to handle them and send them back to their respected places if they are trafficked or lost from their families. I believe this training will help all the officers in this regard.”

NLU vice chancellor Vijender Kumar said, “We have organized the programme to give the much needed information’s regarding the laws related to child protection.”

The programme was also attended by ADGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta and other top officials.
