Tribal youth exchange underway

GUWAHATI, February 21: “At a time when various tions of the world have been fighting for basis resources like water, forests, fuel etc., tribal societies still retained their simple living without posing any threat to the environment. Exchange programmes like this are great platforms for all of us to learn from the traditiol wisdom and responsibilities towards environment of tribals,” so said Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs (independent charge) Sarbanda Sonowal today.
The 7th Tribal Youth Exchange Programme, 2015, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, began at 9th Mile in the city today. The programme will continue till February 27.
 The main objectives of the exchange programme are – to provide an opportunity to the tribal youth of 20 selected districts of Jharkhand and Orissa to visit different places of the country to understand the cultural ethos, language, lifestyles of the people depicting unity in diversity aspect of our tiol life; to sensitize the tribal youth about their rich and traditiol cultural heritage and eble them to preserve it for the future generation; to help the tribal youth to develop emotiol linkages with their peer groups in other part of the country; to share and appreciate each others’ traditiol, historical and cultural heritage by visiting important places associated with the programme; to provide opportunities to the participants for interactions with the local
communities, to develop emotiol and cultural ties with the youth placed in similar life situation in different parts of the country; to develop persolity and leadership of the tribal youth by enhancing their understanding core life skills like self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, decision making, effective communication, interpersol relationship, coping with stress, coping with emotion etc.
