Trim trees near high-tension wires: DC

GUWAHATI, June 22: It has been observed that many trees are standing near the high-tension electrical wires in many places of Guwahati city which come in contact with electrical wires during heavy thunderstorm and sometimes disconnect wires from electric poles. It is also observed that these live electrical wires, after getting detached from the electric poles, have caused a number of accidents like electrocution etc., leading to loss of lives and property of public in general. 
In view of the above, Dr. M. Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, District Disaster Magement Authority, Kamrup Metropolitan District hereby directs the Divisiol Forest Officer, Kamrup (East) Division to prune and trim all vulnerable trees which may cause such adverse incidents in and around Guwahati City within seven days. The payment for the said work will be borne by APDCL. The proposal/ bills may be submitted to DDMA which will be forwarded to APDCL for the release of funds of the said work. This direction has been issued as per the provisions laid down in Section 30.2(iii),(v),(xi),(xx), (xxiii) of the Disaster Magement Act, 2005.
This order comes into force with immediate effect.
