GUWAHATI, Oct 2: The Assam BJP Minority Morcha today kick-started its skill development and rehabilitation scheme meant for providing job avenues to the lakhs of unemployed of the state through honing of their skill. The beneficiaries of the scheme are chosen regardless of the candidatures’ caste, creed or religion.

At a function held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhavan in the city today, the morcha gave away autorickshaws to 20 unemployed of the State after providing them training.

Talking to The Sentinel, State BJP’s Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal said: “Ours is just a minuscule effort based on Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal’s firm belief and stand that – hard work is the key to success. There’re lakhs of unemployed in the State. We’re just trying to minimize the elephantine problem to a small extent with such an endeavour. It is taking that in mind Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has proposed the creation of skill development as a separate department in the State. This is because a skilled worker, even if he is not educated, can render valuable services.  However, we can’t sit tight by waiting for that government action plan to come. From our end, we have taken up a plan to provide job avenues to at least 100 youths every month. We’ve signed an MoU with Skylight Automotive Pvt Ltd, a private firm with Kumar Gaurav as the Maging Director. The firm has its own workshop with classrooms at Jalukbari. The modus operandi is that the morcha will pick youths for training in driving, motor mechanics etc., in the workshop. After successful completion of the training, Skylight Automotive will make all arrangements for bank loans at zero down payment for the purchase of cars, battery-operated rickshaws, autorickshaws, autovans, tractors, three and four-wheeler vehicles used in farming etc. The candidates will have to pay the premia with their own income from the vehicle. The entire system will be monitored by the firm through online.”

The twenty beneficiaries who received an autorickshaw each today are Hemanta Das, Bidyut Bora, Purkanta Bora, Pranta Phukan, Rupak Dutta, Chandra Lahkar, Kuldip Bora, Indrajit Deka, rayan Roy, Saminul Haque, Taijul Ali, Rajib Rajbongshi, Shah Uddin, Romijul Islam, Prab Deka, Mamat Ali, Saminul Sheikh, Riyaj Ali and Soullah Ali.

Morcha general secretaries Mahiruddin and Matiur Rahman and other leaders of the party were present at today’s function.
