Two arrested for defrauding Assamese NRI

GUWAHATI, July 25: Pan Bazar police bbed two youths – Rajat Agarwal and Ricky Gupta – for fraudulently transferring Rs 9.56 lakh from the account of a customer of ICICI Bank, Fancy Bazar branch in the city on July 12 this year – on Monday. Another person, Bitu Saha, is being grilled.  According to the police, they defrauded an Assamese NRI, Gayatri Sahu, staying in Hong Kong. Rajat opened an account with fake documents in the me of a ‘ghost customer’ Khagendra th Barman in the GS Road branch of Kartaka Bank in the city. Using fake documents Rajat made the ICICI Bank to issue a fake cheque book in the me of Gayatri Sahu, who has an account in that bank, and transferred Rs 9.56 lakh from the NRI’s account to his fake account.
