Uncertainty haunts new blocks

GUWAHATI, April 3: The fates of 49 new development blocks created without creating the required posts by the Congress government at its fag-end on February 29, 2016 may be sealed by the present dispensation at Dispur.

State Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Minister ba Kumar Doley informed the State Assembly on Tuesday that the previous government had not created any posts while creating 49 new development blocks in the State. “There have been complaints from various quarters regarding the jurisdictions, mes, etc., of the newly created development blocks in the State. We’ve entrusted the P&RD Commissioner the responsibility to look into the issue following an order from the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister wants everything – manpower and funds involved – in the new development blocks to be taken into consideration while taking any decision in this regard,” Doley said.
