Uniformed men in parking lots, to give print slips

GUWAHATI, April 24: A man in uniform assigned to perform a particular task is laden heavily with something authenticating which others are not. Better late than never – the GMC has realized this and is going to provide uniform to people manning the GMC parking lots in Guwahati.

Of late, there are allegations that a section of people has been making money by illegally running some parking lots in the name of the civic body. To prevent such illegal running of parking places in the city, the GMC is now going to provide its uniform, GMC identity cards and printing machines for printing of slips for charging parking fees from vehicle owners to the people manning parking places in Guwahati.

Talking to The Sentinel on Tuesday, a GMC official said: “There were numerous allegations of lessees running parks in Guwahati charging more fees from vehicle owners. Even there are allegations of a section of unscrupulous people running parking lots in Guwahati illegally – without taking them on lease from the civic body. Providing people manning parking lots GMC uniform, identity cards and printing machines for the printing of slips is a well thought-out decision.”
