Union minister reviews water supply schemes

GUWAHATI, June 24: Union Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation  Ram Kripal Yadav, who is on a three-day visit to the State, reviewed the progress of the various schemes under the PHE Department –  NRDWP, SBM(G), World Bank Project etc., -- and assured all help in their early commissioning.

Minister for Public Health Engineering Rihon Daimary appraised the Central Minister of the problems being faced by the state like availability of sufficient funds for drinking water schemes, issue of addressing quality problem in drinking water, issue of defunct toilets under SBM(G), etc. After taking stock of the schemes, Union Minister Yadav assured all help from the Central Government. The Union Minister also assured Centre’s assistance in completing some of the water projects in the State.

Daimary also submitted a memorandum to Yadav highlighting the issues which invited Centre’s intervention. Yadav said  the that Ministry would look into the issue and extend full support to the State Government. Principal Secretary Hemanta rzary and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
