US Vice Consul interacts with ASDMA

GUWAHATI, March 7: Vice Consul, Consulate General of United States of America, Kolkata, Madelyn AM Mahon and Consular Section Agnes G. Verma interacted with the officials of Assam State Disaster Magement Authority (ASDMA) in a meeting on Wednesday in Guwahati.

The Meeting was chaired by Rajib Prakash Baruah, Additiol Secretary and State Project Coorditor, ASDMA. Mukta Ram Deka, Project Mager, DRR, Dr. Mirza Md. Irshad, Project Mager, Response, Rajesh Dutta, Engineering Consultant, Biren Baishya, GIS expert and other senior officials of Assam State Disaster Magement Authority were also present at the meeting. The Vice Consul discussed various ongoing mitigation projects of ASDMA. A presentation was given by Rajesh Dutta, Engineering Consultant, ASDMA on the major initiatives undertaken by ASDMA. The Vice Consul appreciated the unique interventions undertaken by ASDMA for disaster preparedness and said that ASDMA is the forerunner as far as disaster readiness in the Northeast is concerned. She informed the activities that the Consulate General of USA, Kolkata has undertaken for preparedness. They have also said that this visit has paved the way for future collaborations with ASDMA though various activities focusing on crisis magement and emergency magement exercises.

Rajib Prakash Baruah, Additiol Secretary and State Project Coorditor, ASDMA showed his gratitude to the Vice Consul for visiting Assam and showing keen interest in disaster preparedness activities.
