VHAA hails tobacco control in poll manifestos

GUWAHATI, March 28: The Voluntary Health Association of Assam (VHAA) has welcomed the initiative of the major political parties in Assam – the Congress, Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) and the Asom Ga Parishad (AGP) – of including issues pertaining to tobacco control in their respective election manifestos.

This proactive step was taken by the political parties following advocacy efforts undertaken by the VHAA at the highest level of the parties concerned. A VHAA delegation earlier this month met and handed over representations to the political leaders of the parties in this regard.
