Victim's family 'harassed' by child abuser

GUWAHATI, Jan 21: In bizarre incident, the family of a child abuse victim has been harassed by the child abuser in Guwahati.

“A child of 11 years was sexually abused by a 82 years old man, who is socially powerful person. As we filed FIR against him we are being harassed, our water supply has been cut by the people of the housing society we live in,” alleged a relative of the victim in a press conference in Guwahati Press Club today.

It has been alleged that the president of Purbanchal Housing Complex at Borthakur Mill Road in Ulubari, Tushar Kanti Das sexually abused an eleven year old girl in 2013. The victim’s family filed an FIR in Paltan Bazar police station against him. However, as Das was a reputed person with good judicial reference, the investigation of the case has not yet been completed by the police.

Meanwhile it has been also alleged that Das manipulated the members of the housing society against the victim family and harassed have been harassing them since last two years. Das also put pressure on the family withdraw the complaint.

The family on Thursday alleged, “Recently, though we have submitted the maintence amount of the housing society, the committee refused to accept it and they cut our water supply on December 30. We informed the police and they restarted the supply but again the water supply was cut by the society. We are now out of our mind and helpless to take any step. We, therefore, request the people of the State to guide us and help us to get the social justice against the culprits.”
