Vietmese Ambassador calls on CM Sonowal

GUWAHATI, Feb 24: Ambassador of Vietm to India Ton Sinh Thanh today called on Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal at the latter’s office in Assam Secretariat and discussed various issues of mutual interest.

Stating that both Assam and Vietm must explore opportunities of business and economic activities Sonowal said since there is geographic proximity of the state with the South East Asian country they can be tural ally in furthering business interests which can be beneficial to people of Assam and Vietm.

Thanh also expressed his interest in developing deeper relation with the state and hoped that Act East Policy would pave ways to greater collaboration in many fields with Assam like the tea sector.

Inviting the Ambassador of Vietm to the mami Brahmaputra Festival to be held in the state from March 31 to April 4, 2017 Sonowal urged him to send a Vietmese cultural troupe to participate in the festival which would encourage cultural exchanges between Assam and Vietm.

Saying that the hardworking ture and the courage of the Vietmese must be emulated by the people of the State, Sonowal stated that increased people-to-people contact and cultural exchanges would bring the people of Assam and Vietm closer and facilitate an environment for growth and prosperity.
