Walk-A-Thon for child health

GUWAHATI, Nov 12: In order to bring better health to the children of the city, Tender Petals Preschool Venture of Inner l Foundation Pvt. Ltd. (IIFPL), in association with DN Acharya Foundation, organized a walkathon for Children’s Health awareness — Walk for Our Children – on Sunday at Zoo rengi Road in the run-up to the Children’s Day.

The programme saw participation of a huge number of children of the city where the parents were seen accompanying their children in the walkathon. The prime objective of the event was to foster children as ambassadors of good health through physical activities and sports. The event saw the participation of organizations like Rotary Club, Moksha, Khoon an NGO, NE ICONIC. Students of various institutes like Guwahati Commerce College, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, ICON Academy, Faculty HS School and others took part in the event.

Distinguished guest of the event, HOD of English of Handique College, Srutimala Duara, said, “It’s very evident in today’s world of gadgets that children refrain from outdoor activities which is an integral part of their physical and mental health. Events like walkathon, where the children and the parents are walking together, bring us a sign of change for the better.”

Eminent writer Tit Atifa Masood said, “This event should not be an end in itself. The cause of conducting such events will be successful only when parents of every child play their role to bring about a regular practice in their children involving them in some physical activity every day.”
