Water-logging floods NH-37

From our Correspondent
DIMORIA, June 13: tiol Highway-37 has been inundated following the artificial floods in the entire Jorabat area. Incessant rains have been lashing the city since June 11. Long queues of stranded vehicles are seen on either end of the highway.
Even since the NH-37 has been made a four-lane one, Jorabat has been facing artificial floods, as often as not. The commuters are having a harrowing time. Negligence of both Assam and Meghalaya Governments is glaring. Two years back, the two State governments started construction of drains on either side of NH-37, but that important job has been left incomplete. The artificial floods were extreme at Jorabat Tiniali and and Ten Mile because of lack of drains.  Some affected commuters said that the government totally failed to tackle artificial floods at Jorabat. Neither this government nor its predecessor has done anything worthwhile to put an end to artificial floods, they said.
