We must build a society based on equality: CM

GUWAHATI, April 14: Paying rich tributes to Dr B.R Ambedkar on his 126th birth anniversary at a function at Assam Jata Bhawan, Dispur on Friday Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal said that developing all sections of society cutting across all divisions is the prime objective of the government and all efforts have been undertaken to achieve it.

The Chief Minister announced that a memorial lecture would be held every year in the state by the government in memory of Dr B.R. Ambedkar which would be highlighted at the tiol level.  

Stating that Dr Ambedkar had made tremendous contribution to the success of Indian democracy by drafting the constitution of the country Sonowal remarked that India, as a shining example of unity in diversity, is thriving because of its Constitution that protects the aspirations and rights of all Indian citizens.     

Referring to Dr Ambedkar’s immense contributions towards the uplift of the underprivileged and backward sections of society, Sonowal said that the government is committed to the equal development of all sections of society and until the fruits of progress reach the poorest of the poor the government cannot be termed successful.

Saying that there are small ethnic groups in the state with very less population which would be equally developed along other groups, Sonowal urged the people to keep a close watch over the activities of the government so that efficient governce can be delivered at all levels.
