We want no foreigner in NRC: AASU

GUWAHATI, Sept 11: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has met deputy commissioners all over the State with demand notes stating that under no circumstances mes of foreigners be included in the NRC being updated.
In statement issued to the press on September 11, 2017, the students’ body has demanded the State Government to place full priority on NRC update till December 31, 2017, the deadline issued for the State Government to adhere to by the Supreme Court of India for the publication of the draft NRC.
AASU president Dipanko Kumar th and general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that the draft NRC should be ready within the remaining four months. They said that a section of people was out to include mes of illegal Bangladeshis in the NRC. They demanded a foolproof system to bar foreigners from making it to the updated NRC. 
Apart from a foolproof system to debar foreigners from entering the NRC, the students’ body demanded formation of dedicated groups of officials under the deputy commissioners to look into the NRC matter till December 31.
