We're ready to breathe our last if not revoked: RYM

GUWAHATI, May 7: After submitting a memorandum to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), who is presently in Guwahati to conduct the long awaited public hearing on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill – 2016, the Rashtriya Yuva Morcha (RYM), Assam state unit has strongly opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill – 2016 on Monday. After attending the hearing, the RYM in a release asserted that the JPC has to exceptionally consider the opinion of the people of Assam. Expressing strong resentment over the whole episode, the RYM observed that the natives of Assam are compelled to struggle to sustain within the land of Assam itself. “If the BJP-led NDA government will dare to betray the people of Assam, they will be wiped out,” said the RYM Assam state chapter President Rajib Kakoti in the release. The RYM has appealed chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to stress the Prime Minister to revoke the Bill to ensure the existence of Assam and its people. “If necessary, we are all ready to breathe our last unless this disparaging Bill is revoked,” Kakoti said. Meanwhile, the RYM also appealed all the states across the nation to quash the Bill.
