GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) president Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora today said that the AXX should be made dymic by bringing back those who had left it.

Taking part in an 'antaranga aalaap' at the 17th North East Book Fair at Chandmari field in the city today, Dr. Bora said: "The AXX has to be made a dymic force by bringing back those who left it. And many steps have been taken to make that a reality. I do believe that the good days of the AXX will be back soon."

On the problems of languages nowadays, Dr. Bora said: "Each and every language is facing numerous problems nowadays. The minor languages have to fight for their existence. Language cannivalism from English is a big problem. At this hour of crisis, each and every ethnic group should understand each other's problems and move ahead together."

On political patroge for the development of the Assamese medium schools in the State, Dr. Bora said: "The successive political heads have done precious little to develop the Assamese medium schools on a par with their English medium counterparts, and this has frustrated the middle class Assamese people as their wards have to read both Assamese and English. Slowly but certainly such families have been giving up the Assamese medium schools, and that has posed a threat to the Assamese language."

Meanwhile, a poets' meet was organized at the Gashilpi Khagen  Mahanta Xuwarani Mancha at the book fair today. It was conducted by poet Anubhav Tulasi. As many as 26 poets took part in the meet and read out their self-composed poems.

The mouthpiece of the book fair, Grantham, will be released tomorrow.
