With monsoon nearing, DC asks all to gear up

GUWAHATI, March 21: A conference on precautions to be taken in the coming rainy season was held at Kamrup (Metro) district commissioner’s office yesterday. The conference was organized by the Disaster Magement Authority and presided over by Deputy Commissioner M Angamutthu.
The DC advised the officials at the meeting to take all measures before the rainy season. He also advised all to make fruitful planning to get ready for floods in the city. The DC laid emphasis on possible landslides during rainy season in the city and its preventive measures. “For this, every police station has to identify accident-prone areas of the city and take necessary measures,” he said. On the draige system in the city, the DC said the Irrigation Department and the PWD have to clear the garbage from the drains before the monsoon. He also asked the NDRF and the SDRF to be ready with their boats and other equipment.
