By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 11: Bhaben Huzuri of Lamb Road, Ambari in Guwahati has alleged that his activist wife Jamini Huzuri (58) has been missing since August 20 this year, and the police have not been able to ascertain her whereabouts as yet.

Talking to the media at Guwahati Press Club on Wednesday, Bhaben Huzuri said: “My wife, who is a businessperson associated with Chandrapur Block Cluster under Handloom Department, Government of India, was to get around Rs 15 lakh from Dilip Kalita, a supplier. On August 20, 2017 he was called by Dilip Kalita to pay her dues. She went to meet Dilip Kalita and hasn’t come back even today. If anybody has held her hostage, she should be let off considering her age. Over 50 days have been elapsed, but there has been no telephone call from her, nor from her captors. With no result from any quarters, I have written letters to the Prime Minister, the Assam Governor, the State Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, the Home Commissioner-cum-Secretary and the State DGP. I have received a reply letter from the Governor assuring me of taking up the matter seriously.”

Huzuri said: “My wife knows Dilip Kalita through business. He kept on borrowing money from us. Even I persolly lent him Rs 1.50 lakh and the rest amount was given by my wife. Dilip Kalita has been arrested by the police, and he’s in judicial custody. We also suspect six others – Radhika Choudhury Kalita, Hemanta Kalita, Jiten Sarma, Prafulla Deka, Anup Kalita and Moi Das. I request the police to do their best to trace my wife.”
