Won't allow anyone to tear up the rule book: Administration

GUWAHATI, Dec 27: Kamrup (M) district administration has issued a litany of strictures for New Year revelers, bar owners and others to adhere to on the interning night of December 31 and January 1. The administration has made it a point that no New Year celebration will be allowed after 12.30 am. The administration said that it is not going to allow revelers to tear the rule book.

In an advisory issued on Wednesday, the district administration said: “It is not going to allow any New Year celebration after 12.30 am on December 31, liquor bars need to adhere to the timeline mentioned in their licenses. Any premises eager to celebrate New Year should acquire no objection certificates from the Commissioner of Police and also from district administration (excise branch). The applications for special permission (one-day temporary license) should mention the use of alcohol.”

The district administration further said that drunk-driving would be strictly prohibited. This apart, installation of CCTVs both inside and outside bars is mandatory, the administration said, adding that all approach roads to bars should be properly illumited and there should be ready power back-up arrangements. It said that age and identity of those entering bars should be verified. It said that there would be surprise inspections by joint teams of police, district administration, health, transport and excise departments.
