Workers' body stages protest over wages

GUWAHATI, Sept 8: Activists of Sadou Asom Nibanuwa Parishad (SANP) and Dakshin Kamrup Shramik Santha today staged protest in front of the office of Assistant Labour Commissioner in Guwahati demanding release of wages of the workers of M/s Cent Ply at the rate fixed by the Labour Commissioner of Assam. SANP president Surya Das in a press statement alleged that the magement of M/s Cent Ply located at Palashbari in South Kamrup district has not released the wages of the workers at the rate fixed by the Labour Commissioner since 2009. He said that the magement of the industry has compelled the workers to work 12-14 hours in a day instead of eight hours.  He alleged that all these are happening under the nose of the Labour Commissioner.
