Workshop on GST & its legal impact held

Gauhati High Court judge Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, who was the chief guest, iugurated the programme and encouraged the participants comprising judicial officers, CAs, officers from Sales Tax Department and students. He said that more such trainings should be done as GST is the new subject under the New Act.  Guest of honour on the occasion, Justice PK Saikia, emphasized that this subject is very technical in ture and apprising and getting awareness of its legal implications are very important.

Supreme Court Advocate Sneha Kalita, who was the expert speaker of the programme, explained extensively the legal provisions under CGST Act, 2017 and apprised the legal implications of pelty and imprisonment if there is evasion of tax. Advocate Priyanka Das also apprised the participants of different liabilities of taxable persons under the New Act.
