GUWAHATI, Nov 05: A two-day workshop was conducted at Shishu Sarothi, Guwahati on November 3 and 4, 2017 for educators, youth with disabilities, parents and other stakeholders on ‘Employment First Policy, Customized Employment, Employment Development Plan and one-person one-job’.

Enriching the interactive session were ERC executive director of Minnesota Don Lavin who shared positive interventions and examples of inclusion for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in real life settings which parents could relate to. He also provided valuable insights into collaborative approaches in ebling a seamless transition of persons with disabilities from education to employment.

The session was part of the exchange plan of the ‘Fellowship Programme on Inclusive Education’ with mentors visiting fellow participating countries. The ‘Fellowship Programme’ was held in the University of Minnesota, sponsored by the US Department of State and conducted by the University of Minnesota in collaboration with the University of Arizo. It was attended earlier this year by a fellow staff of Shishu Sarothi.
